Myrna Tennant

Originally from the Netherlands, Myrna is currently an undergraduate student at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, studying under Helen Lawson.  Between 2010 and 2014 Myrna studied at the Junior Royal Northern College of Music under Joy Naylor, regularly representing JRNCM in external concerts with Head of Accompaniment David Jones, who also accompanied her in the 2015 Keldwyth Awards competition. Through RCS and several other courses (Classical Singing summer school RCS, Art of Song, Samling Academy) Myrna has had the benefit of working with many other outstanding vocal coaches, including Patricia MacMahon, Caroline Dowdle and Stephen Robertson.

Apart from solo performances, Myrna also enjoys singing with others. She is a member of the RCS vocal ensemble Voices, performing works such as Tallis’ ‘Spem in Alium’ for 40 solo voices, and the Stravinsky Mass. In July 2015 Myrna took part in her first opera, as ‘le petit vieillard’ in Samling Academy’s production of Ravel’s ‘L’enfant et les Sortilèges’, and then in September she sang the soprano solos in Mozart’s Requiem in All Saints Church, Glasgow. Summer 2016 will see Myrna taking the role of the dew fairy in Humperdinck’s ‘Hansel and Gretel’ at the Orkney St Magnus Festival, followed by Dido in a Cumbrian production of Purcell’s ‘Dido and Aeneas’. To enhance her linguistic skills and broaden her experience Myrna is planning to travel abroad in the near future.
